Teen Issue #1: STRESSING OUT

A clip of 'Degrassi' shows Paige at a party where she finds herself in a traumatic situation: She is raped. Through discussions centering around how this happened and how the event affected Paige and her friends, the cast of 'Degrassi' talk through the serious emotional implications of dealing with this very real tragedy. Dr. Tiffany Brown, assistant professor of Family and Child Studies at Montclair State University also addresses what Paige could have done to try to avoid this situation.




In the Broadway smash 'Spring Awakening,' Moritz confesses to his father that he has failed. He tries to talk through his fears of failure and how he feels when he hasn't performed up to his potential. The cast of 'Spring Awakening' talks through the pressures parents put on their kids and how it has changed from 1890 (the year the production is set in) and today. They also talk through pressures they currently encounter with their parents.

Teen Issue #2: WHO AM I?

Going against everything he thinks he knows about himself and against everything everyone he loves thinks he is, Marco in 'Degrassi' comes to the realization he might be gay. The actor who portrays Marco talks about what he loves about the character and discusses the feelings that making life-changing realizations reveal. The 'Spring Awakening' cast chimes in with their take on a similar situation in their play.

All of a sudden, things change. Girls no longer have cooties and boys no longer have germs. In this clip from 'Spring Awakening,' Moritz asks a friend for help in understanding all the feelings he is having about women. He asks his friend to give him the details about sex. Jonathan Groff addresses what really should be in a manual about the opposite sex and talks about the differences between guys and girls.

Teen Issue #3: LOVE STINKS

A love triangle ensnares Jimmy on 'Degrassi.' And even though he didn't mean it to happen, he has to deal with the wrath of his girlfriend. Did Jimmy do the right thing by telling his girlfriend how he felt? Is it OK to be interested in someone else as long as you don't cheat?


Sometimes parents don't approve, or other impossible situations keep you from being with someone you want to date. In this clip from 'Spring Awakening,' the cast discusses the secret meeting between Melchior and Wendla, and how forbidden love can be the most heart-breaking love of all.
