RED's teamed up with CollegeProwler.com, which talks to real students about their schools ... and when we say REAL students, we don't mean the goody-goodies giving the campus tours.

Campus
Although the Reed College campus is small, it is one of the most beautiful. Students generally find the campus to be one of the most well-maintained of any schools that they have visited.
Reed has three computer labs, free sporting equipment, pool access, pool hall with a jukebox, six pool tables, and an arcade. There is a movie theater and bowling alley within minutes from campus. There are tons of facilities to spread out and do whatever you want on your down time from class.
Student Organizations
There is no greek life on the Reed College campus and sports are limited to women's rugby and frisbee, however students are very active in the organizations on campus. They have everything from Hip-Hop Collective to Beer Nation. The student organizations are always growing and changing, so you can visit the Reed College Student Organizations site to find out what you can get involved in.
If you aren't into the student organization thing, don't worry. Students say that Reedies know how to party on campus. Besides the occasional campus bonfire, numerous formals and balls occur throughout the year to satiate the on-campus partying needs. There are parties on campus fairly regularly, but even the off-campus parties are within walking distance.
The City of Portland
Portland is an anomaly for modern-day cosmopolitan cities. It possesses both a big-city and a small-city feel. Despite having less than one million people who call Portland home, the city has the look, resources, amenities, and feel of a much larger metropolis. Most students believe that Portland, while being small in comparison to nearby Seattle and San Fransisco, does not lack for entertaining endeavors and fun distractions for their trips away from Reed.
Away from Reed, students generally enjoy either visiting Portland's multiple commercial districts, seeing a film at one of the numerous theaters, or perhaps seeing the sights around Portland like the varied gardens. The only complaint from students is that places close too early.
Academics
Reed prides itself in not having any student teaching assistants. Trust us, this is a good thing! A professor leads every lecture, conference discussion and seminar. At Reed all the professors go by their first name, which makes the atmosphere a lot more enjoyable.
Each class at Reed runs in a conference setting, in which a minimal number of students (10 to 25) and a professor critically discuss the subject of the class. In the conference setting, most Reed professors attempt to guide the discussion without dominating the conference. Reed professors are no different then their students. They simply want to pursue knowledge with the help of others. Now that's a cool learning environment!
