Athletics
If you haven't heard of Hokie football, then you must be living under a rock. Football games draw students, alumni, friends, and family to Lane stadium, leaving downtown Blacksburg silent when football games are going on. Even students who come to Tech with no interest in sports become drawn into the fierce loyalty that Tech students have for their football team.
Football games in Blacksburg aren't just about football -- they're also about supporting your school, hanging out with your friends, and tailgating. Around the country people know about Virginia Tech because of its football team.
Hokie Pride
We all knew Virginia Tech was a tightknit school, but that became even more evident when students, faculty, alumni, and the surrounding Blacksburg community rose above the horrible shooting that happened April 16, 2007 on campus killing 32 people and wounding many more.
Virginia Tech students have strong school spirit and value the education their univeristy provides. In fact, mant Tech students have such a great time as undergraduates that they stay at Tech for graduate work.
Academics
Everyone knows Virginia Tech for its engineering departments and if you didn't ... now you know! While Tech does have an excellent engineering program, there are other programs at the University that shouldn't be overlooked. The Pamplin College of Business offers degrees in accounting, business information technology, economics, finance and more. Business management is one of the most popular majors, along with engineering, biology, psychology, and computer science.
Students say that for the most part, their professors have been great. They are often passionate about their subject, and since this is a research university, it is nice for students to learn from professors who work in their fields.
Students
Tech students are hot. There's nothing more to say! With around 20,000 undergraduates at Tech, there are bound to be at least a few hotties wandering around campus. But tech students will tell you that there are a disproportionately large number of good-looking students at Tech, and they're distributed across academic interests.
Students say that sometimes it seems like half the reason for going to class is academics, and the other half is to check people out. That's reason enough for us to want to send in our application for admission.
