Sleepless Splendor
It's just not fair how some girls get it all: talent, charisma, beauty, success AND nice demeanors. Somehow, though, Aly & AJ are impossible to hate and between them, they're conquering the universe. Their new album, 'Insomniatic,' is out now, and they're about to kick off a summer tour. So how did these girls become superstars? We took a look back.

Future Stars
Both of the Michalka girls have been modeling and acting since they were little kids growing up in Seattle. By the time their family moved back to L.A., they were ready for primetime and hit the scene in a big way. While A.J. won roles on shows like 'General Hospital' and 'Six Feet Under,' Aly became known for playing Keely Teslow on Disney's 'Phil of the Future.'

Girls Rush In
Aly & AJ's debut album, 'Into the Rush,' was a huge success that, two years after it's release, went platinum (that's a really popular record). One of the album's songs was featured in 'The Ice Princess.' If you hadn't heard of the girls before their album dropped, then you might have caught them later that year on tour with the Cheetah Girls' Christmas Tour. And if you still missed them -- maybe you should get out more.

Hope Rocks
That same year, Aly & AJ performed at Hope Rocks, a benefit concert designed to build cancer awareness among young people. While it was still early in their recent upswing of fame, the girls set a precedent for the charitable work that is a part of their lives. Over the years, Aly & AJ have continued to promote and support various causes and issues.

The Big Year
2006 was a busy one for Aly & AJ, kicking off in the first week with a video shoot in Hawaii (we know ... we're trying not to hate them, too). After shooting the video (and working on their tans, we're sure), the girls moved on to star in a Disney movie, perform numerous concerts ?- oh, and record a new album. These girls stay just a little busy at all times.

Belles of the Ball
A few months after their Hawaiian shoot, Disney premiered 'Cow Belles,' which starred Aly & AJ. In the film, the girls play two wealthy teens whose dad puts them to work at his dairy corporation to teach them about hard work. Of course, when the company goes broke, the girls are left to save the company -- and their Dad's rep. In real life, the Michalkas are anything but pampered.

AmberWatch
Not only have Aly & AJ performed at benefit concerts, they've also hosted them. As co-chairs of the AmberWatch Foundation's Child Advisory Board, the two attended the AWF Launch Party in April '06, and presented a benefit concert in later that year. The concert drew celebs like Randy Jackson, and raised over $100k for the foundation, which works to prevent child abduction and molestation.

Totally Famous
The girls love giving to their audiences, with lots of shout-outs and high-energy shows. In July '06, they joined other Disney stars at the Radio Disney Totally 10 Birthday Concert in Anaheim, CA.

Glam Girls
Continuing on their wave of increasing prominence in 2006, Aly & AJ's crowning achievement of the year was their nomination for Contemporary Inspirational Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards. They didn't take home the award, but they did get to introduce Nelly Furtado's performance at the show -- not to mention put in some time on the red carpet.

Holiday Flava
Never ones to stop working, soon after their AMA appearance, they released their second album, 'Acoustic Hearts of Winter.' The work was a compilation of Christmas and holiday-related songs like covers of 'Joy to World' and 'Silent Night.' Aww ... even rock stars can get excited about holidays. We can't wait for the Hannukah album.

'Insomniatic'
So far this year, Aly & AJ are already moving right along at their break-neck pace of productivity. They just released their latest album, 'Insomniatic," with the accompanying video, 'Potential Breakup Song' and upcoming tour with Corbin Bleu and Drake Bell. The new sound is fresh, sexy and confident -- much like the girls themselves.

Summer Heats Up
In June, the girls attended 'A Time For Heroes,' a celeb carnival to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. At the time, they were busy preparing for their upcoming summer tour, but still took a few hours out to promote a good cause. So what's next for these queens of the music scene? You'll have to check out their RED Q&A to find out ...
