Beyonce: A History
Sure, Beyonce is our favorite dreamgirl now, but once upon a time she was Beyonce Knowles, a church choir singer and 'Star Search' contestant. Was fame always her destiny? Or Destiny's Child? (Sorry.) Let's find out ...

Destiny's Child
Beyonce and best friend Kelly Rowland met LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson and decided to go on 'Star Search' under the name Girl's Tyme. They, uh, lost. Whoops! Probably just the name, because Destiny's Child eventually signed with Columbia Records in 1996, then hit the big time in 1998 with 'No, No, No Part 2.'

'Austin Powers in Goldmember'
We all knew she'd be a triple threat eventually. With singing and dancing done, Beyonce turned to acting with a TV movie, a major role in 'Austin Powers in Goldmember,' as well as both a part and a song in 'The Fighting Temptations.'

Destiny's Child Breaks Up
You can't fight destiny ... at least not if you're LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson. Both girls left the band, leaving space for Michelle Williams to join, turning the quartet into a threesome. The band toured one last time in 2005, but has since officially split up ... probably because Kelly Rowland and Williams just have too much to do on their own.

Beyonce and Jay-Z
Despite being in videos together, Beyonce and Jay-Z have been pretty private about their relationship since it started in 2002. Considering how many other couples have split up in the tabloids, maybe that's why she's still 'Irreplaceable' to him.

Beyonce Gets Dangerous
Beyonce dropped 'Dangerously in Love' in 2003, her first solo album ... and really the reason why Destiny's Child was doomed. 'Crazy in Love' and the album topped the charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom, making Beyonce the first female artist to ever do so (and the first artist to do it since 1983).

'Dreamgirls'
Jennifer Hudson may be the breakout star of 'Dreamgirls,' but every Jen story has to mention how much better she was than Beyonce. Apparently there's some kind of law. Still, you know you've made it when newcomers are hyped as being better than you are. Congrats, Beyonce, it only took you to age 25.

Beyonce's B'Day
Speaking of 25, Beyonce's second solo album dropped on her birthday, September 4, 2006, and it's already so big that she's putting out a 'B'Day Deluxe Edition' in Spanish. We can't wait to see what Beyonce does for her 26th birthday ... if she's finished with her 'B'Day' world tour by then, that is.
