Debut with Fame
Emma made her film debut with 'BigLove,' but followed up the same year in a role as Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp's daughter in the more prominent 2001 drama, 'Blow.' While working with such famous movie parents was a huge entree to the biz, she was just 10 at the time and didn't know who Johnny was. We're going to let this one go, Emma, because so you're so darn cute, and we all make mistakes as children.

(Un)fabulous
In 2004, Emma was cast in her biggest role yet, as Addie Singer on Nickelodeon's 'Unfabulous.' In the show, she plays an unpoised and generally unfab girl in junior high -- someone most of us can relate to. Part of her savvy in the role may stem from personal experience: she's been acting since forever, but she somehow manages to balance it with homework. Do actresses get more attention in the school cafeteria? We're guessing probably yes.

Family Ties
Emma's interest in the acting biz was partly the result of being the niece of her superstar Aunt Julia. One of Emma's first breaks came at age eight, when she was an extra in one of her Aunt's films, but she's clearly taken the jump start pretty far already. Will Emma be the next Julia? Well there is just a small resemblance ...

Miley Cyrus-eque
Making a Miley Cyrus-ian move in reverse, Emma took her on-camera guitar playing from 'Unfabulous' to the real-life studio to record her own album in 2005. With lines like "I took my time, learning my lines, trying to sort it ou-out," it was the first time we'd heard from Emma in her own voice. But considering the album's less than fabulous sales, it may also be the last.

Aqua-tabulous
Emma's next big movie, the 2006 hit 'Aquamarine,' let her wash off the poor direction of her musical foray, and established her as one of H'wood's hottest up-and-comers. In this mermaid flick, she held her own alongside JoJo and a girl with fake fins. If that's not emerging star power, we don't know what is.

In the Bag
In September '06, Emma officially moved into the teen star set when she became the new face of hipster bag and accessory company, Dooney & Bourke. As if she couldn't get any cuter, now it's part of her job description. We're good at carrying handbags, Emma! Let us know if you need some help with those.

Star Sleuth
This spring, Emma's busting out into leading lady territory as the title role in 'Nancy Drew: Murder in the Hollywood Hills,' her biggest gig so far. In the film, she brings the famous book character to life, proving that not only is she a hip Hollywood ingénue, but she's a stealthy one, too.

Defining Stardom
So what's it like having an aunt who's considered one of Hollywood's biggest and most gorgeous stars ever? Who has been in 60 films and counting? The answer sounds something like 'pressure' to us, but Emma seems to handling herself with poise. As for Julia, she's clearly attached to her niece, and is rolling out the red carpet for Emma to follow in her footsteps.

Sweet Sixteen
Emma may play an awkward junior high schooler on TV, but in real life, she's a 16-year-old glam girl with elegant style. As her star power rises in H'wood, so does her amount of red carpet hang time. In addition to her own awards -- like this Female Star of Tomorrow honor she won in Feb. 2007 -- she's one of the featured guests at this year's Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards. We're keeping our eyes on the carpet for more of this glowing glam girl.
