The Little MVP That Could
David Eckstein grew up with baseball coaches telling him he was too small for the sport. Standing at just 5'7, he has officially proven those critics wrong. Eckstein was named this year's World Series MVP and is the first National League short stop to be given the honor.

Hot Resume
David Eckstein was also a member of the 2002 World Champion team, the Anaheim Angels when they faced the San Francisco Giants. The Angels replaced Eckstein in '04, thinking they could find a better man for the job. We don't feel sorry for them.

Hard Worker
Cardinals coach Tony La Russa said at this year's postgame party about David Eckstein, "To me, he's our shortstop. And believe me, he's more than just guts, he's a very good player."

Hello, Wifey!
David Eckstein is married to actress Ashley Drane ('That '70s Show,' 'That's So Raven'). We think he should stand by her all the time and then people would never know he was so short.

Down on Defense
David Eckstein shows off his smart fielding as he tosses a ball to teammate Hector Luna getting an out at second. Eckstein spent much of the season injured, with shoulder and hamstrong problems, making his post-season performance even more impressive.

Breaking Bats
While David Eckstein started the series 0-11, he had three doubles and a single to help win Game 4 and singled twice and had two RBIs to clinch Game 5. A comeback like that is very deserving of an MVP honor.

Run David, Run!
This year was certainly the postseason for underdogs and we couldn't be happier that a player like David Eckstein, all 5-foot-7 of him, is getting the attention he deserves!
